THE BEGINNING
In 1963, Hélio Cruz, founder of Boneli, built the first centerless grinder in Brazil. At that time, due to market protection policies, the importation of machines was impossible and the necessity of a centerless grinder originated a new business. In 1972 BONELI was established in the city of São Paulo and actively participated of the biggest industrialization period of the country, supplying machines to all automobile assembly companies and all the main auto parts suppliers of Brazil. In 1978 the company moved to Piracicaba, distant 140 km from São Paulo, where it is presently located.
ACCUMULATING EXPERTISE
1,500 machines, approximately, have been manufactured by BONELI during this period for the automotive, hydraulics, electric, tools and pneumatic industries. BONELI supplied companies as General Motors, Fiat, Volkswagen, Mercedes Benz, Rockwell, Eaton, Danfoss, Rexroth, Vickers, INA, SKF, FAG, Light Metal, Mahle, Cofap, Tenneco, Magnetti Marelli, TRW, Electrolux, WEG, Bosch, Visteon, Delphi, Dana, GKN, Autocam, Arcelor, OSG, Dormer, Twill, Sandvik and the biggest auto parts manufacturers of Brazil.
ALWAYS INNOVATIVE
Since the beginning, the company chose to focus in the development of high technology machines. Amongst the innovations that BONELI introduced in the market are the use of linear guides and ballscrews, automatic electronic balancing of the grinding wheel, flow switch protection systems for the grinding wheel spindle, self-centering hydrodynamic bearings, use of CNC for wheel dressing interpolation, use of optic measurement and in-process correction, synthetic granite machine beds and, more recently, the use of spindles with integrated motors for the grinding and regulating wheels. Between 1990 and 2006, BONELI created a dedicated division to manufacture special grinders and to retrofit centerless grinders. During this period the company retrofitted more than 200 centerless grinders from all manufacturers, such as Landis, Cincinnati, Multimat, Herminghausen, Mikrosa, Malcus, Ghiringhelli, Giustina, Monza, Estarta, Llidkoping, Koyo and others. The experience gained from retrofitting favored the development of new solutions, to improve and to correct our projects.
NEW PERSPECTIVE
In 2006, BONELI decided to focus only in the manufacture of centerless grinders and started the design of the SMART series, which summarizes 35 years of experience, market knowledge and leadership. The SMART series revolutionized the centerless grinding concept and brought technological innovations that place BONELI in the world-wide market.
The ideal technological concept, at the same time simple and intelligent, was a dream of the past, is the reality of the present and the trend of the future. And that’s where we are headed. Hélio Cruz. |
